NOA Outlaying Frame for Boat Covers

The NOA Outlaying Frame was developed for sailing boats with a pulpit, pushpit and guardrails. Unlike a conventional deck frame, it has additional outlaying tubes that hold the winter cover away from the hull.

This prevents the winter cover from resting directly against the hull. The additional space improves ventilation beneath the cover and reduces the risk of chafing against the hull. The Outlaying Frame is therefore particularly suitable for boats with sensitive paint finishes, wooden boats or boats requiring work on the hull during winter storage.

Installation of the standard frame

The Outlaying Frame is attached to the pulpit and pushpit using NOA railing tube clamps. With the standard version, the boat’s guardrail stanchions are removed. They are replaced by 200 mm NOA supports inserted into the existing stanchion bases. The telescopic supports and outlaying tubes are then attached to these replacement supports.

The telescopic supports allow the height of the frame and the distance between the outlaying tubes and the hull to be adjusted.

Custom version with the guardrail stanchions left in place

The existing guardrail stanchions cannot or should not be removed from every boat for winter storage. We can therefore also configure individual Outlaying Frames that allow the boat’s guardrail stanchions to remain in place.

This version is not part of the standard configuration and must be adapted to the existing guardrail structure and the dimensions of the boat.

Individual solutions for motor boats

A comparable outlaying solution for motor boats can be configured using NOA components. As deck layouts, handrails, tube diameters, superstructure heights and attachment options vary considerably between motor boats, the frame must be adapted to the individual boat.

Allow for the additional space required

The outlaying tubes extend approximately 15 to 20 cm beyond the width of the boat on each side. A boat fitted with the Outlaying Frame therefore requires up to approximately 40 cm of additional overall storage width.

Before ordering, please check that sufficient space is available at the intended winter storage location. If space in the outdoor storage area is limited, the additional width should be discussed with the operator of the winter storage site in advance.

Clamps for different tube diameters

The standard version is supplied with NOA railing tube clamps for a tube diameter of 25 mm.

If you require clamps for a different tube diameter, we can exchange the supplied clamps accordingly. Please tell us the existing tube diameter before ordering so that we can configure the Outlaying Frame correctly.

Stanchion bases with holes or pegs

Some boats use fixed stanchion pegs instead of conventional stanchion bases with holes. Different connecting components are required for each version.

Before ordering, please check whether your boat has stanchion bases with holes or fixed pegs and specify the appropriate version when placing your order.

Selecting the frame length

The Outlaying Frame should generally be selected slightly longer than the boat. However, the ridge tubes should preferably not extend more than approximately 30 cm beyond the bow or stern, as protruding tube ends could damage the winter cover.

The preconfigured NOA Outlaying Frames are available in various lengths up to 15 m. Individual adjustments to the frame length and configuration are available on request.

For maximum possible stability, the telescopic supports should not be fully extended.

Shipping information

Due to the length of the tubes, the frame is shipped as bulky freight by a forwarding company. Please provide a delivery address where the shipment can be accepted on working days.
