NOA Deck frame

The NOA deck frame is the classic solution for sailing boats and many motor boats with stable attachment points in the bow and stern areas. On sailing boats, the frame is usually attached to the bow and stern pulpits. On motor boats, it is often attached to the bow pulpit and to handrails or other stable tubular structures in the stern area.

The frame is securely attached to the railing tubes using NOA railing tube clamps and forms a stable structure for winter covers. Depending on the shape of the boat, the telescopic deck supports are positioned on the cockpit coaming, gunwale, cabin top or in the cockpit to provide additional stability.

Depending on the version, the height and roof pitch of the deck frame can be adjusted within a certain range. This helps rainwater and snow to run off while leaving sufficient space for ventilation underneath the winter cover.

Individually configured and available within a few days

In addition to the preconfigured NOA deck frames, OUTMAR also supplies deck frames in individual lengths. We can adapt not only the overall length of the frame, but also the number and length of the required supports to suit your boat.

Experience has shown that, depending on how exposed the winter storage location is to wind, the distance between the supports should preferably not exceed approximately 2 m. At locations that are particularly exposed to strong winds, it may therefore be advisable to add further supports.

As the required tubes, supports, connectors and clamps are kept in stock at OUTMAR, we can usually supply both standard versions and individually configured deck frames within a few days.

Construction and components

The ridge tubes supplied with the preconfigured deck frames are 2.0 m or 2.5 m long and are securely joined using stable straight tube connectors. For individually configured frames, the tube lengths and number of tube sections can be adapted as required.

The deck and railing supports are attached to the ridge tube using robust T-connectors and securely fixed with an 8 mm Allen screw.

The NOA railing tube clamps are fitted with plastic bushes. These provide a secure grip while also helping to prevent galvanic corrosion between aluminium and stainless steel.

All aluminium components are carefully finished and deburred by NOA to prevent sharp edges that could damage the winter cover.

Standard versions and individual solutions

The standard versions offered are primarily preconfigured for sailing boats. On motor boats, deck layouts, superstructure heights, handrails and tube diameters often vary considerably. Many motor boats, for example, do not have a conventional stern pulpit and may use tube diameters such as 22 mm or 30 mm instead of the usual 25 mm railing tubes.

OUTMAR therefore develops individual deck frame solutions for motor boats and special deck layouts based on the NOA systems. We adapt the clamps, supports, tube lengths, number of supports and overall frame configuration specifically to your boat.

An individually configured frame can also be useful for sailing boats if the required frame length differs from the standard versions or if additional supports are needed.

Important information

The frame should generally be selected slightly longer than the boat.

The ridge tubes should preferably not extend more than approximately 30 cm beyond the bow or stern, as protruding tube ends could damage the winter cover.

The ridge tubes can be shortened if required.

For maximum possible stability, the telescopic supports should not be fully extended.

Depending on how exposed the storage location is to wind, the distance between the supports should preferably not exceed approximately 2 m. Additional supports may be required at locations that are particularly exposed to strong winds.

The T-connectors are made of aluminium and secured with stainless steel screws. To help prevent galvanic corrosion between aluminium and stainless steel, we recommend using grease, oil or a product such as TEF-GEL.

Can also be extended to an overhang frame

A NOA deck frame can later be extended to form a NOA overhang frame. This allows the winter cover to be positioned away from the hull. This is particularly suitable for sensitive paint finishes, wooden boats or boats undergoing osmosis repairs.

Shipping information

The frame is supplied in cartons up to 2.50 m long and shipped as bulky freight by a forwarding company. Please provide a delivery address where the shipment can be accepted on working days.
