Telescopic supports for A-frames, deck frames and outlaying frames

In simple terms, our deck frames consist of a continuous ridge tube, over which the winter cover is later placed, and telescopic supports – the legs of the deck frame. The ridge tube runs along the centre of the boat from bow to stern. Thanks to their adjustable length, the telescopic supports can be adapted to the height and shape of the boat as well as to the individual mounting position. Depending on the type of frame, the supports are attached to the pulpit, pushpit or boat railing, positioned on deck, or placed on the ground in front of, behind or alongside the boat.

In this category, you will find different telescopic supports for NOA and OUTMAR Deck Frames. They can be used to build a new deck frame, add extra support points to an existing frame, or replace damaged or lost supports.

The right version depends primarily on where the support is to be positioned or attached.

Telescopic railing supports with end fitting

Telescopic railing supports connect the ridge tube of a deck frame to the pulpit, pushpit, handrail or a suitable tube of the boat railing. The upper outer tube has a diameter of 35 mm and is attached to the ridge tube using a T-connector. The inner tube has a diameter of 30 mm and can be continuously adjusted and locked at the required length. An end fitting at the lower end of the 30 mm tube allows the support to be attached to the boat railing using a suitable NOA railing tube holder.

On a conventional deck frame, these supports form the front and rear fixing points of the frame. Depending on the size of the boat and the length of the frame, additional supports can be added between bow and stern.

Telescopic railing supports are the right choice when:

  • the frame is to be attached to the pulpit, pushpit, handrail or boat railing.

Telescopic deck supports with plastic foot

Telescopic deck supports are positioned on the deck, cabin structure, side deck, cockpit floor or another suitable surface of the boat. A plastic foot forms the lower end of the support, while the upper end is connected to the ridge tube with a T-connector.

Telescopic deck supports are used with NOA A-Frames and Deck Frames as well as individual OUTMAR Deck Frames.

Before positioning the support, check that the intended surface is sufficiently strong, level and suitable for supporting a concentrated load. Sensitive surfaces should be additionally protected with a suitable pad if necessary.

Telescopic A-frame supports for positioning on the ground

A-frame supports are positioned in front of the bow and behind the stern or at other suitable locations, such as on a stable bathing platform. They are used on boats without a suitable pulpit, pushpit or boat railing for attaching a conventional deck frame. For individually configured OUTMAR Deck Frames for motorboats, A-frame supports can also be used, for example, to support the end of the frame on a bathing platform.

Two telescopic legs form each A-shaped support. A cross brace connects the two legs and stabilises the structure. At the top, the A-frame support is connected to the ridge tube using a T-connector.

A-frame supports are particularly suitable:

  • for smaller motorboats and open boats,

  • for fishing boats and trailerable boats,

  • for boats without a suitable pulpit or pushpit,

  • for boats with a suitable bathing platform.

As A-frame supports stand on the ground, they must be positioned on a firm and preferably level surface and secured against slipping or unintended movement. For supports standing on the ground rather than on deck, the additional use of a ground anchor can be useful.

Telescopic supports with double end fitting for Overhang Frames

Special telescopic supports with a double end fitting are used for NOA Overhang Frames. They are designed for installation in the pulpit and pushpit areas and differ in construction from standard telescopic railing supports with a single end fitting.

The special end fitting is designed specifically for the construction of the Overhang Frame. With this type of frame, additional tubes run along the sides outside the boat railing. The winter cover is supported over these overhang tubes, keeping it away from the hull. This prevents the cover from lying directly against the hull and provides more space for ventilation and access beneath the cover.

These supports are required:

  • as part of a NOA Overhang Frame,

  • when replacing an existing bow or stern support,

  • when converting a Deck Frame into an Overhang Frame,

  • for individual frame configurations with lateral overhang tubes.

Choosing the right length

The key measurement is the distance between the ridge tube and the intended mounting or support point. The selected telescopic support must cover this distance within its adjustment range. However, it should not be extended to its absolute structural maximum. Maintaining an overlap of approximately 15 cm between the outer and inner tubes helps ensure a stable connection.

Before selecting a support, measure:

  • the required minimum and maximum support length,

  • for railing supports, the diameter of the pulpit, pushpit, handrail or boat railing,

  • for Overhang Frames, whether the support is required for the bow, stern or side section.
