Anchor Davit

A stern anchor davit is the ideal accessory if you frequently anchor in areas such as the Swedish archipelago or tight bays. Especially with a small crew, deploying the stern anchor at the right moment can be challenging — without touching the boat or leaving the helm unattended for too long.

The stern anchor is typically stored at the stern rail in a holder or dedicated box while underway. Before anchoring, you attach the anchor line — whether rope with chain leader, leaded line, or anchor webbing — to the anchor and secure the other end to a cleat (for webbing only after paying out the required length).

Without an outrigger or davit, the anchor must be lifted over the rail and carefully lowered into the water to avoid damaging the stern. With a stern anchor outrigger, you secure the anchor on the arm before the maneuver and guide it safely into the water at the right moment. The line runs smoothly over the outrigger roller, preventing the anchor from hitting the hull or rail. After setting, you secure the line at the correct length on the cleat and release it from the outrigger.

Modern stern anchor outriggers are often foldable or telescopic, allowing compact storage while underway and quick deployment when needed.
