Anchor Chain Stowage Tube / Container

To achieve the highest possible holding power of the anchor, we recommend using a few meters of chain between the anchor line and the anchor. A chain is significantly more resistant to dragging across the bottom and thus protects the anchor line from damage. In addition, the extra weight of the chain ensures a flatter pull angle. The pull runs closer to the bottom of the water, so that the anchor digs in better and holds more securely. In many cases, about five meters of chain is sufficient to achieve a noticeable improvement in holding power.

This chain lead is used regularly, especially when using a stern anchor. To prevent the chain from lying loose on deck, becoming a tripping hazard and/or dirtying and scratching the deck, it is advisable to store it in a storage container.

Even on smaller boats that do not have an anchor or chain locker in the bow, installing a chain container in combination with an anchor holder can be a sensible solution. We offer two models: The stainless steel chain locker from Atlantic has space for approx. 6 meters of 10 mm thick chain, while the aluminum chain locker from NOA ALUMINIUM holds approx. 4 meters of 8 mm thick anchor chain or approx. 5 to 6 meters of 6 mm thick anchor chain.
